welp gots some pics as i said i would...i had to try out my new phone that i bought. its a palm treo 700wx. bassically a black berry only with a camera installed.
anyways friday we took the front bumper off, so its easier to paint it.
here's a shot of the hinges for the door that they welded. solid now!!!!!
here's a shot of the interior, dirty again....OH and the steering wheel i'll be putting on soon.
they had the door worked on more, it was outside when i took this pic.
here's the new rear bumper support that i'll have to fix up and paint.
and the best part of this post. the front lip that misha gave me (thanks man)
i pondered how the heck am i going to put this thing on and get it attached and one of the body shop guys says "use those plastic trees, it'll hold up, but at least you wont expletive up your lip if you hit a curb!, the plastic trees will rip out and wont damage the lip or your bumper" so thats what i did! i drilled holes for the trees, popped them in and here's what it looks like.
here it is attached with the bumper upside down
and here is the bumper right side up!

(^^^^ that corner is bugging me^^^^)
oh well...it looks good and it'll look good when the car is done.
thanx for the viewing.....have a nice day.

It's really coming along. Must feel great to finally see notable progress (not that the prep work wasnt cool and all). I can't wait to see the finished product.
Oh, and everyone's been through the rear bumper support game. It's a mess, and they're all in horrid condition. There isn't too much you can do about it. Put lots of coats of sealer over your primer. I'm actually considering underbody or truck bed paint for mine, because it gets scuffed up so quickly.

I was forced to buy a new bumper support because I angrily ripped the old one off... Is the car painted yet?

there are a few detailing shops in my area that do a pretty good job on doing the finishing work, you should ask around and see what it would cost if they do that type of stuff

Theres no need to sand the base coat. The base is just color, several light coats for coverage. The clear coat is what really matters. A GOOD painter can spray 2-3 wet coats of clear and not have to do any wet sanding or buffing. Orange peel shows up in the clear if its not laid evenly and flat, but thats something that you can wet sand and buff out if need be.
