ZC Question.
Hey, been awhile since I posted, finally getting my second CRX. I'm getting it from my friend's coworker and he has an 89 si, pretty mint condition which is nice, he has a SOHC ZC swap in it and I just had a couple questions.
I got to test drive it last night for a good time so I know it drives pretty well, but it grinds slightly when going into 3rd at high rps. I was wondering if my normal D16A6 tranny would work on the ZC, I still have mine which was perfect (no grinding at all) on my other CRX, or is there an easy way to repair the transmission so it doesn't grind.
Also, with the 89, the cluster cover (the thing you take off before you take off the cluster) is sort of boxy, would my 90 SI cluster cover thing bolt on the 89? Not a big issue, but I like the roundedness of the 90-91 cluster cover thing.
Thats pretty much the only questions I had, its not a SUPER big issue since I can easily wait a second or two for the rpms to drop then throw it in third, but sometimes I forget and it gets annoying.
Thanks!

Your old SI trans MAY bolt up. You will need to check the input shaft. Make sure the spline count is the same. i BELIEVE it should swap right in. But you really should take the 90-91 flywheel and put it in there as well. 212mm clutch has better bite. You would have to move your cluster AND bezel over to the 89 si and repin the cluster harness.. It's really up to you to decide if it is worth it

Yeah, I got an answer about the SI transmission from my friend, he asked the guy selling this (since it's his coworker) and he said he got just the block and used his 89 SI tranny on it, so I probably will swap over the tranny and clutch and everything since the previous owner of 90 SI had the clutch done not long before.
As for the cluster, I probably wont, seems like a little too much work, but if I want to I will know what I need to do.
