Loose clutch springs
If someone has a known good clutch sitting around could you please tell me how loose your clutch springs are. I have the ACT HDSS and mine are somewhat loose. I can turn them easily by hand, and they actually have some wiggle room to bounce around. They can't pop out, but they are definitely loose. I'm just wondering if this is normal. I'm actually hoping that it isn't normal because that would explain sooooo much. Thanks!!!

What!! Why don't you just call me on my cell fool!!! You know my engine is all apart and I think I have the same damn clutch as you. Give me a couple of hours and I'll dig mine out and let you know. I'm assuming you are talking about the springs in the clutch disc itself.

on me!!! I forgot. I was home sick all day playing on the interweb trying to figure out why my car makes some odd sounds. I've always questioned whether it was my clutch even though it was brand new.

Are these the same odd sounds that we heard coming from your trans before?? If so I thought the bearings cured that.
Anywho, I checked my clutch disc and I can move the springs, but barely. When I say barely I mean I can only budge them, definitely can't spin them 360 (I'm sure with plyers but not by hand).

The bearings fixed that one sound you heard. There is another sound that is pretty hard for me to explain. It happens only for a second after you press in the clutch after you are moving, and can sometimes be here while moving at a slow speed. I can't really describe it well at all, and it has baffled me since day one. I was thinking clutch springs all along, and you can easily turn my clutch springs by hand 360 degrees with no resistance. Maybe this could solve my problem. It doesn't pose any driving issues, BUT it's a noise that I can hear that shouldn't be there. I wonder if ACT has some kind of warranty?
ANOTHER trans removal

I would call ACT and ask them if you should be able to move those springs by hand.

ive never seen clutch springs that you should lbe able to move like that. and they have wiggle in it?? the sound you hear are the springs rattling around in the tranny. can you compress them with your hand also? or just turn them?

not too good, one of my old room mates had a problem like that, it was making noise, then it really started making squealing noises
we pulled the tranny and one of the clutch springs came out and killed his flywheel and all the rest of the springs were loose as hell
