Ball joint, bushing replacement.

More suspension, shaking problems. Ever since my test run at 14psi, something went out. The vibration is at ANY speed from the right side(passenger). The faster you go the worse it gets. Ive replaced both axles(I twisted the left one on that trial run also)So both are new. But while I was under there I noticed that almost all the bushings and ball joints are shot, exspecially where the suspension(shocks and springs) attach to the lower control arm, that bushing is in really bad shape. So I want to replace everything, bushings, ball joints, etc...any thing that everyone would reccomend. When I bought the car the kid gave me a energy suspension master kit(polyurethane), so I have all those, but I just need the ball joints. The question is are they replaceable or rebulidable? I know the bushing that is in really bad shape needs to be melted out and then cut with a hacksaw, but Im not sure if my kit has that bushing, I dont think it does, wouldnt it come with the new metal shroud around it? Any help would be great, as well as the best place to order the new parts, thanks guys, I know most of you have done this already, so your help is much appreciated.

Hey I replaced every single bushing and ball joint in my car so I can help you out, but I'm a little confused about which components you're talking about.

Just some notes.....
  • The front upper ball joint has been debated before. It seems on some cars they're replaceable on others they are not. Mine (1990) wasn't so I had to purchase new upper control arms.
  • The two pivot mounts for the upper control arm that go through the inner fender well. I don't remember if these came in the Energy kit, I don't think so. For me I bought new Ingals adjustable camber kits and replaced the factory stuff anyway.
  • If you're doing the rear the energy kit doesn't include the super large rear trailing arm bushings or the toe compensator link bushings. You can get these from either Mugen or Prothane.

Honda Automotive Parts

Number 11, is the one that is in really bad shape. Ive seen on one of your other posts to melt the rubber and use a hacksaw to remove the metal ring. It doesnt look like the energy kit came with this bushing.

Honda Automotive Parts
I have an ingals adjustable camber kit so the upper ball joint is pretty new. Its the lower I was curious about, in the picture it looks like you can buy the entire new lower ball joint, but would you think it would even be possible to press that out, or should I just replace the rubber bushing, if the ball joint its self is in good shape?

And are these parts still available from honda? Or where do you guys reccomend getting them.

^^^

Number 11 in the photo DOES come in the energy kit so you're in luck.

As for the lower ball joint yes it presses out and yes it's still available from Honda.

Hey, do know if the kit ever came with instructions? Im trying to get them from energysuspension.com but the pdf links do not work. It would be nice if they had which bushing(with part number, they are all labeld) went were, do you still have your directions or know some where else to get them?

The kit comes with some rudimentary instruction which basically just ell you what bushing is what.
