obd1 guys, how do you have your ecu secured?
Title pretty much took care of it. I really would kinda like to have that gold plate back on my car protecting the ecu but my p28 has different mounting tabs. What'd you guys do to solve this? I have some slack in my harness but i dunno if there is enough to put it on the kick panel like the 92+ cars have.

i had the same problem when i went to obd 1. my issue was a lil different in my teg though cuz i had the s200 attached to the ecu and i had the boomslang harness (scott knows the one) attached to it and it was super thick and heavy. my kick panel was hanging off covering it. maybe diy brackets will help if you can get inthere and drill two small holes into the frame of the car and use two metal brackets that go accross the entire ecu and secure it down. i dont think youll be able to use the same gold plate again though.

yeah, i have a rywire harness that is pretty bulky also. I really have been ignoring this problem and i have it kinda wedged into between the mounting points but i want to find a permenant solution this winter.

It may be ghetto, but could you epoxy small bolts to the ECU cover that line up with the gold plate? Or do the bolt holes miss completely?

nah, the mounting tabs it attaches to are on the chassis and the plate is dented in so it attaches against the floor. It's hard to explain kinda.

buy some sheet metal and get to work with a bead roller sissy
i'd probably just bend up some tabs in heavy guage steel to make it work, and tell my passengers not to kick my computer.

I have it wedged in between the tabs. I might have one tab bolted down, can't remember. I don't use a cover plate and I just push the carpet and padding over the ECU. I also, have the rywire harness. It's pretty much out of the way so I dont worry about.

I guess I'm not the only one the got upset at the way my P28 mounted. Rather than wedge it, zip it, or velcro it I actually made custom brackets that attach to the P28 and then attach down to the OEM bolts in the floor. I then spent about 6 hours cutting the LoCash ECU adapter down and resoldering it so it was the perfect length. I think my working with servers and being very aware of wiring that keeps me so freaky. I've seen pleny of fires and expensive equipment get ruined because of they way it was secured and wired.

Of course that's the S200, the S300 is even a little cleaner because it has the USB port instead of that goofy dongle.

I mounted mine in my glove box, the install was real clean. Remember it wsa only hooked up for about 2 weeks though before I traded it in and bought the S300 which is so much better.
