opinions (on how this place will be ran)
#1 Rules- Anyone have any input on something that was missing or you'd like to see changed?
Quote:
Rules:
1. Before posting ANY topic, please search. We're working with cars that are at the minimum 15 years old, you're most likely not treading into uncharted waters.
2. Under no circumstances should you post a FS/WTB thread in the CRX forum unless it's in the official thread that is stickied at the top of the forum. Here is a link to the current one: ************************* Reason being that i don't want this forum to be cluttered and people to have to weed through a bunch of for sale posts to actually get to the useful info. We have a classifieds forum also. This is a personal pet peeve of mine and any thread will be locked or deleted as soon as i see it.
3. Try to keep thread titles somewhat descriptive. It helps people searching and also helps get peoples attention that can actually help you.
4. Make your thread as descriptive as possible. There is nothing worse than having to ask 5 questions to be able to even help you. Yes, it does make a difference if you have a DX or Si.
5. What is the best _____ to put in my CRX? Just stay away from questions like this because most of the time you can't afford the best and the 'best' usually depends on your setup. Even after we know all of this, it's usually a largely opinion based question and there is no real 'right' answer.
|
Only thing i can think of adding is something about "before asking about a motor setup please answer these questions"
2. Stickies- I kinda don't like them but what's your opinion on how many we need? I was thinking a rules/faq one, a FS/WTB, and a few other ones (suprises but things like CRX of the month or along those lines). Do you feel the need to have important threads (like Barry's "fugly but fast" thread on the other place) stickied?
I just would like input to make this place the best for you guys.

I think those are pretty clear...
And this isn't specifically for the CRX forum... but what about having a "Noob Tech Forum" that lists basic information and common noob questions, so that the same shit doesn't clutter the board?

I say that we shouldn't tolerate this crap^^^^
BAN!!!!!!
I think that any important threads, like Barry's "fast but fugly" should be summarized and INCLUDED in the current FAQ thread. The faq thread shouldn't contain and idle chit chat, just facts. And each post or series of posts needs a title or topic. That way if we accumlate a lot of topics/titles we can create an index on the first page so that you know what's on each page w/o having to scan through pages of info.

I think stickies are a good thing for rules like this, and some articles like the one I wrote. That way new members will see them right away and not just post stupid crap. My $0.02.

haha, i don't think anyone was serious here.
I kinda like the way this FAQ is done BUT it needs to be a little more organized (like beginner/intermediate/advanced/DIY):

I honestly didn't like how on SHO there was random things stickied. I obviously didn't do that though and i was the new guy so i didn't argue.

I agree the way the stickies were at SHO was a little ridiculous. I think stickes are very useful though, if used in the right way: for organized, well put together material.

If you guys want me to somehow summarize what I did to my car or use some pictures or whatever, I am sure I could shorten it up quite a bit but be informational. In retrospect I should have called my SHO thread the "Fast and the Fugly" not "Fugly but Fast". Let me know if you want me to do anything.

Barry, first off.......damn glad to see ya here!!!!
Second, I would love for you to post another thread like you did in SHO. I'm thinking maybe we should sticky it in here as well.
Name it whatever you like Also, you see I made the "track forum" just for you

you know what we SHOULD do is have a forum topic completely deticated to sticky's and have all the stickys on that forum topic. then it'll free up space in the regular forum topics like the crx and civic. if there is a sticky forum topic. people WILL know there is usefull info on there and they'll visit and use the info that is provided.

Stickies are fine as long as the Mods realize that they don't have to be "Stuck Forever"
Some occasional maintenance when they get stale is all that's needed to keep the site clean.
What would be cool is if each user could choose which threads he wanted stickied (in addition to the ones stickied by mods). You could store that in a cookie and for your own personal use there would be specific stickies about meets in your area, or whatever you find most interesting.

A couple stickies are fine at the top of the page. If we have a lot in time, we could merge some threads, or just set up a FAQ thread.
