Radiator Replacement Question

Ok, my radiator broke yesterday so today I was replacing it, got a new part from autozone here, the issue I'm having is that when I'm trying to put my fan onto the new radiator, it really doesnt line up.

More specifically, when I am putting it on, the place where you bolt the fan onto matches up fine, the left tab is right there, but the right tab is a bit short. After comparing it with my old stock radiator, the right tab seems like it should be slightly bigger then the left one so that you can bolt the fan on, but the one I got, the right tab is way shorter then normal and shorter then the left tab as well.

Does this sound like I got a wrong part? I really want to say it is, but I may just be confused and not have done something right (though I'm pretty sure I've done everything right so far).

Thanks, Matt.

Edit: Here are some images:

Side By Side Comparison Of The Right Tab On New/Old Radiator:

Sorry they aren't better, cell phone camera, you can sort of see (not really since I took bad pictures) that the old one sticks out a bit more than the new one, so that you can just push the fan, bolt it on, and be done, but with the new one, you have that huge gap, no way to even try to push the fan and bolt it on.

Well if you bought the radiator from autozone that might be your issue. Aftermarket parts are not always "direct fit" like they say. Yours actually doesn't look that bad considering it's not OEM.

Things I would do.....

1) Call them back with the part number and verify that they gave you the correct one.

2) Verify that the number on your invoice is the same as the radiator (not mis-boxed).

3) If you have to use that radiator don't force the tab on the fan to the radiator. Instead fabricated a spacer to go in between the fan and the radiator. I've used some small piping from Home Depot in the past. You can custom cut your own "collar spacer" from the piping and it should work just fine. While your at the depot pick up a bolt that will be long enough (I doubt the stock one is)

Yeah, the invoice and item all match up, I will probably do what you said and make a custom spacer and get a slightly longer bolt, since the stock one is too short to thread in where it currently is at.

Thanks for the tip.

Sorry to be the newbie, but this is my first car so I wanna try and make sure everything is right.

I was wondering what these two prong things on the bottom of the radiator are, it seems like they are connected to possibly where the coolant would flow and could be used for something (see image below).

Please feel free to enlighten me as to what they are, since I would hate to hook up the radiator completely and then find out I needed to use them for something (though I wouldn't be sure as to what since they weren't on the OEM one).

Thanks, Matt.

It looks like you have a dual core radiator. They look like hook-ups for an oil lines or transmission fluid line. In other words, there is a seperate radiator inside the radiator designed to hook up to your oil or tranny fluid and cool it down.
