Smacked the rev-limiter
Needless to say, it scared the crap out of me. I was playing with a mustang, short sprints from 2nd to 3rd, and I smacked the limiter at the end of 2nd. The motor just fell on it's face. I'm thankful it was there because I didn't even know I had a limiter and I think I even told John once that I didn't have one.
So I finally emailed Phearable.net to see exactly where it was set:
Rev-limit is set at 8900.
Vtec is at 5300.
I think it's time to get a tach that goes beyond 8k now

I would like to keep my stock cluster, but definitely don't want a big monster tach on the street car. Maybe a track only car.
I'm not really sure what I'm going to do though.

sounds like a good idea. that way it wont be as big and ugly as a 10' tach, but will still serve the function you need

VT cluster
Or yeah, get a shift light and hide it in the vent so it's not even visable.

Sounds like the best option to me. They sell 2 inch, full range tach's too. Not as noticeable as a 5" monster, but it works.

ow.. kev, that looks really expensive...
a suggestion is to retrofit a tacho into the current rev meter... shift lights can be blinding

all you guys missed the point.................
how did you do against the Rustang?? Also, I wouldn't worry too much about 8900RPM, remember our JDM ITRs redline at 8600RPM so you weren't that far off.

He was a pretty cool guy. He said he was borrowing his buddies mustang becuase he was in the process of working on his brakes on his EG. He said it had an LS/VTEC. The mustang had at least an exhaust, but other than that I have no idea what was done to it. Sounded very healthy and looked like loads of fun to drive. He said he preferred his EG over the mustang.
I'd say that at the speeds we were at it was pretty evenly matched. Him having the advantage of being able to dig himself out of the whole in any gear with all his torque. I had to be in the right gear (2nd). If we had been on the highway, I feel pretty confident that I could have walked away slowly.
It was a 2002ish GT with exhaust and what appeared to be the cobra SVT wheels from that model. I had to give it a good look to make sure it wasn't an SVT of any sort.
Good looking car, I personally wouldn't mind have a Red Cobra.
BTW, my buddy with the Roush, his dad just bought a GT500 :O
I'll have to go get some pics and let you know how the torque in that thing feels.

expensive is 'relative'
mind u that guage cluster has record abilities like the defi BF's.....but can be stored long term and large files in SD card format. also note daisy chain sensors for all the guages u need. all......in........one.........cluster...........s o no more need for guages.
STACK also has one. but the defi does look more manufacture-ish..........and has more features.
