arching

ive questioned the status of my ignition system for quite some time now
i know the dizzy is good, and the wires/plugs are new, and new engine ground

but today my car arched and shocked the shit out of me for the 2nd time

i know you've all dealt with ground issues
anyone care to suggest grounds to check?

re-check them all, take a piece of sand paper or a dremil and grind or sand off some of the paint where the ground wires are attached

what were you touching when it arched? Remember that electric current will always take the path of least resistance so cleaning connections and making sure stuff is clean will only help.

I've never been shocked by a car luckily. Got close tightening a battery cable on a DSM (and hitting the shock tower) but i have reflexs like a cat and jumped.

Mine shocks me too...and everything I have is new. Your plug wires will arc if they touch a ground. That is why you should make sure they are not touching the hood or valve cover it will bleed out the spark. I'm pretty sure it is normal.

I have a MSD external coil...it shocked the shit out of me.

Have you ever touched the plug wire on a lawn mower?...same thing...Ouch.

Make sure they are not touching anything metal and you will be OK. I bet you had one hand on the car and one on the dizzy?
