Fuel line woes
Well I finially got around to putting my walbro 255 in. And Im stuck Everything has come apart except for the fuel line nut. I dont know if its the supply or return, but its hard pipe coming from the pump, then it goes to rubber tube which connects to a screw on fitting, well its rusted in place.....any one have any suggestions? Ive tried vice grips but it wont budge, any help is good help, thanks...

try wd 40 on it it may help loosen it up if you spry and then try and turn it.... also try to get more torque on it it may cause it to "crack" and then loosen.

Damn, I don't remember that giving me any problems. However, get yourself a bottle of WEP45, very difficult to find. It's not a lubrication product like WD40 it's a penetrating solution that will dig deep and dissolve some of the corrosion. Normally I just use my MAP torch, but obviously DO NOT DO THAT!!!

I just need to disconnect it so I can drop the tank and replace the fuel pump. I might be able to drop the tank enough to where I can disconnect it from the top of the tank/pump. I was also thinking of cutting the rubber hose and then putting a 2-way npt coupling on with hose clamps.....kindve a last resort choice though, well the map torch would be a last resort, lol. Im gonna go wrench on it more maybe just drop the tank and see what happens.....

Don't try and drop the tank without removing that line! It won't work. The line is one piece and can't be removed from the pick-up assembly. If you cut the line you will have to buy a new pick-assembly. It's your fuel system dude, do it right. The line will come off, you just need patience and the right tools and chemicals. Look at my photo below and you can see how the line is too short and is part of the pick-up.

Phew, got it! What a pain that was. It was the fuel supply line that connects to the top of the tank with a banjo bolt. I was able to lean the tank back and get in their with a ratchet wrench and take the banjo bolt off. I finished it up last night, rehung the tank, reattached the lines and hoped everything worked! haha, and it did. First impression is the walbro is alot louder than the stock fuel pump, John you notice that too? Or maybe my stock pump was just weak....I did notice that from just changing the pump, my fuel pressure is 5psi higher, so my pump could have been weak. But it works great and I couldnt be happier. Exspecially since I just got my tracking numbers from Full-Race for my turbo kit yesterday!!!!! More details/pictures on that when I get it. Thanks for the help guys!
