B18c CRX need head gasket-do I order a B18c5?
Hey folks,
Been a while since I have been on here. My internet chatter/posting is way down in that I have been so busy.
Took the head off of my modded B18c CRX track car. Have been chasing my mystery temp issue which I posted on months ago. Turns out my head is fine (pressure tested). I am doing a bunch of things to make sure I don't have my issue again. I need to put another head gasket in. Since B18c is JDM I need to order the proper equivalent in USDM. Should I just get a B18c5 head MLS head gasket from Acura? According to most club racers I have talked to at roadrace-autox.com the OEM MLS gasket is just fine for my application. I just need to know which USDM to ask for that will work. To some it may be a dumb question but I am a "cookbook mechanic" and need guidance.
Barry H.

I think that's a safe bet. I'm pretty sure the US Type-R is 10.6 compression and the Japanese B18C (non Type R) is also 10.6.
If your B18C is a type R and you know that then the compression is 11.1 and I don't know what you should do haha.

Tell you the truth, I don't know. I was under the impression all the B18c head gaskets were the same.

Here is the answer I received from another forum (the sandbox) that I trust. Thought you guys might want to see for a FYI. Even easier than I thought.

Like I said in the last thread, all B-Series VTEC head gaskets are the same. You can walk into your local Honda dealership and ask for one for a DelSol VTEC or a 99-00 Civic Si. Doesn't matter. Or you can order one off of Majestic. Or talk to Len. Whenever I need Acura specific parts that do not cross over to a Honda part, I deal with Len.
Edit: But in this case, you do not need to.
This is correct. 12251-P30-014 is the latest head gasket listed in both the Honda and Acura parts catalogs for all B-series VTEC engines (B17A1, B18C1, B16A3, B18C5, B16A2).

You are right. I could have. That I was under the "impression" did not quite give me that feel of confidence to go order that part. I guess what makes me fell right in ordering is that part no. being the same. Thanks guys.
I was told the B18c I have is the 11:1 compression. Otherwise, why would one order a JDM engine if the USDM engine has the same compression ratio?

i thought all jdm engines are the same as ours, except the fact that they have more power is the different ecu and their 108 octane fuel
