Considering D-Series Tranny Options
I've been considering my options for converting to manual on my 90 CRX and maintaining the D-series. I know the stock Si tranny is good...but what about a hydro tranny? Also, is there any difference between the 88-89 and the 90-91 Si transmissions?

Hydro transmissions are from 92 and up civics. There are cable to hydro kits available from a couple diff companies. Personally, i like cable setups much better, they feel more direct. idk A 5 speed will really up the fun to drive factor of your car.

88/89 and 90/91 transmissions have a different spline count, so just make sure you buy a clutch for the correct year
im pretty sure thats the only difference.

Hey guys...here's an update...I finally found an importer nearby that actaully sells the 3-stage vtec and for $650 too (and being nearby I can bypass shipping ). Here's what I'm wondering though...they say they have the manual tranny that mates with this engine, which by my knowledge is a hydraulic one. Should I opt for the hydraulic tranny and do the cable to hydro conversion or stay with a stock Si cable tranny...assuming...the price for each are about the same? What are your thoughts?

Good work on finding a local supplier. If the prices are the same, i'd get the cable tranny.
