It ran great! I was a little nervous about starting it up and in my head I went over bolt I touched just to be sure I had put everything back together correctly AND torqued everything down. It took me a little longer than I had hoped to put back together but I kept taking brakes and hit a few minor hiccups.

NAPA had the pilot bearing I needed too so that was great because they are 5 minutes up the road.

I'm definitely happy with the 4.7 and think a 4.9 would be a little much for me. Especially on the highway. At 80 in 5th gear I am in the 4600-4700 range, which is still managable, but I will most likely cruise at 70. The acceleration is great, even when not down shifting. I can't prove it and it's probably in my head, but I'd swear the car has a different "tune" to it now. Sounds just a little different, a little deeper........but that has to be some kind of pseudo euphoria from finishing this project (like getting new shoes and thinking you can touch the moon when you jump)

Everything runs smooth, and I don't have any noise issues. I can now just let my car idle in gear without hearing that darn clicking/thumping.

MUCH APPRECIATE IT JOHN!!!!!! I hope the 4.4 serves you well and gives you the gears you've been looking for.

I am just very fortunate and very appreciative that we were able to do this.

I think this should put John at a much more tolerable RPM with a little more room to play with. The difference is more noticable then I had expected, and although I was overly joyed with the 4.4 with my stock motor, I love the motor even more with the 4.7. I can see how having 270ish hp with 180-190ish ft/lb of torque would be unpleasent, especially on a daily basis. When I saw John take of in 2nd I was amazed at how useless his 1st gear really was. Now knowing that there was 4.7 in that tranny I think the 4.05 would have really hurt him by making the gears far too long, especially on the road course where this car is suppose to be.

I think we both improved our cars potential with the swap

Parts will be in Thursday. With any luck I may have the car back together for the river run this Saturday. I spoke with my buddy Larry and he said he has had the same "exploding bearing" mistake that I have done. Very stupid of me, I was way too tired and should have stopped what I was doing much earlier. Now I have to take everything back apart and make another trip to Warwick I was going to bring it to a local shop but Larry said he wouldn't trust any local machine shop with an Acura counter-shaft.

I hope I'm as happy as you are with the gears.....I think I will be. I'm already excited that the charger will be able to make use of it's torque and pull me through 2nd and 3rd more efficiently eventually then giving me a higher trap speed. I'm guessing (and hoping) to break the 110mph mark. With the 4.785 I was bouncing off the rev limiter at 108mph in 4th for about the last 70 feet of the track.

Hopefully with the 4.440, the GSR intake, and some drag radials I'll be in the 12s

The 4.440 will also make the straights at the Glenn much faster

Will.....I'm currently looking for a track buddy for my class at the Glen on September 4th-5th. Space is limited!!!! do it!!!! Trackmasters is the best school by far and I know a bunch of the instructors!!! You'll have a blast!! Karen and I are going up Friday the 1st to hang out, maybe you and the wife want to go up as well. We can all chill and then during the track sessions the two women can go shopping I'm gonna make a post about this.

stock FD is 4.21 i believe. So it would be really nice. Especially with LSD.

WELCOME TO THE 4.785 CLUB. I have the USDM close ratio R tranny with the JDM 4.785 FD in the Rex and I love it. Yep 4700 rpms is about 78-80 in my car (I have no speedo and go off of rpms and gears). That final drive really wakes up the car. And you don't have to worry about cruising the interstate at illegal high speeds because you would be in vtec the whole time!! LOL.

All I have to say is .....

4.40 baby!!!!!!!

Damn it makes a HUGE difference, my car has some nice long legs now Man 3rd gear makes that supercharger howl!!! 4th is definitely good for like 120ish and with the GSR 5th gear 70mph leaves me at about 3600rpm nice for those long drives to the Glen

I had one quick stoplight stint and the car definitely feels better. 1st gear still lights up but I can hang onto it longer and 2nd gear is all pull now, no more spinning. Car definitely feels quicker!! I can't wait to get my drag radials and get to the track

Thanks Will!!

BTW..I never want to pull the trans again!!!

With a Spoon LSD you'll NEED to at some point........mwhahahaha.

Glad it's working out for you though! Now we need to get to the track and get some times.

Hopefully, next time you need to pull that thing out I can give you a hand.
