mechanical expertise.

im in a bind here, and i need some help with this one.
first of all, if anyone has done any minorly extensive work on their sunroof---- please watch/read/respond to this.

i ordered the new panel and seal for my sunroof, took the assembly out, dis-assembled what i needed to, and then ran into a few problems.

here are 2 videos of my sunroof opening and closing without the panel on.
first is left view, then right side view.

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v4...t=DSCF0697.flv

in the first video, everything seems to be working properly....
then in the second video, you notice that problem A. the lifter is not working properly. the Right side does not raise/lower.
problem B. the right side front-to-back rail starts later than the left side.... but they both open and close fully.

my question: A. if im 90% sure that the cable assemblies are working fine, could my problem be just the little silver lifter?
and B. do i need to worry about right rail starting a second after the left rail?

I really need to study your movie and look at the service manual in order to take a guess. However from first glance it appears that the cable may have jump a tooth and that's why the tight side doesn't slide back all the way. Also, it looks like something is definitely busted with the right side "lift" mechanism.

I will say, the hard part of the fix is over...... you got the asm. out of the car. Now you should just be able to spend time staring at the thing and figure it out.

I'll take a look, but right now I'm off to the auction.

the right side and left side do meet up all the way in the front, and all the way in the rear.... but one side arrives slightly before the other.... and also.... if you stop it at any point in the middle.... the two sides are at different points on the track, about an inch apart.

and yes, i got the asm out of the car, surprisingly without breaking anything in the process.
ive been running the tracks back and forth all day trying to see the problem that i'm obviously missing. but it looks like im going to have to take things apart a little deeper than i'd really wanted to.

let me know if i can provide any other pictures/information that would help, i appreciate it.
