Sloppy shifter
The shifter in my 91 crx Si (stock everything) has about an inch of side-to-side movement when it's in gear.
I bought the polyurethane bushings for it, and it helped a little bit, but not much.
I've heard of a pin called the b1tch pin, but I haven't read an accurate description of where it is exactly. Does this pin go bad, and create slop in the shift linkage?
Any other suggestions? It's not getting any worse, but it's rather annoying.

Short shifter helps big time with the sloppyness.

I know, and that is an option at this time.. but I think I would prefer to retain the stock shifter.

The bitch pin is a roll pin which connects the shift linkage with the little stub that comes out of the trans. It's very close to the trans at the shifter U-joint. You can't see it at first glance because it's hidden underneath a boot and then a clip that goes over the top of it. Roll back the boot and remove the clip around the joint and you will see the pin. I have never heard of one going bad. However, sometimes when people remove them they loose them. Then instead of replacing the pin with a new one they get lazy and replace it with a bolt. This is very stupid and lazy, since the bolt usually creates a lot of play in the linkage.
When your underneath the car you should inspect the whole setup. There's a stiff locating arm the provides torsional rigidity to the shift linkage. This rod has some bushings on it as well that go bad.

I rep BNC, GGNC, and TSBH. I cut ripped of the rubber boot, took the bolt from the torque rod, and used that as the punch to knock out the roll pin. Hehehe YEA!

I suppose I'm going to have to get under there and have my fiace move the shifter while I look at it.
The bitch pin doesn't appear like it would cause lateral movement like that.

haha, if you have a problem pushing that pin out (or don't have the right size punch), it's not hard to drop the entire shifter assembly. Like... 2 or 4 bolts, can't remember which, and you have the entire assembly loose. We have a drawer full of punches though so i've never had a problem
