Torque Wrench Suggestion

Ok guys, I'm asking this question here because primarily I will be working on my CRX. I just received a torque wrench for my birthday - the kind you can dial in - and I want to make sure the one I got will work for my needs.

Specs: 1/2" drive TW adjustable to 20-150 lb/ft.

I plan on doing suspension work and eventually a b series swap. I also will be working on any general maintenance I can on the CRX and my Prelude.

Do you think this torque wrench is too bulky for what I need. Would I be better off with a 3/8 drive?

I have the same tourque wrench and it was fine for what I needed it for. It was great for installing a clutch and flywheel.

I have 3 craftsman torque wrenches. When I worked in the auto industry I only used Snap-on and SK, but that stuff is mad expensive. I have found Craftsman tools to be perfect for my needs, and the hand tools have a lifetime warranty. For your application the torque wrench you bought will be will be perfect.

A quick tip, when your done using your torque wrench make sure you leave it stored at the lowest torque setting. It helps to keep in calibrated properly.

Also, I would torque everything to Honda specs, but that's just me.....I'm kinda of a detail freak It's true you probably don't have to but if you have the tools and the time, do it Especially your wheel lugs!!! I have video of a wheel coming of an NSX at Limerock because it was over torqued and failed.

i really want to invest in a good torque wrench. I know down the line a nice toolbox is going to be invested in. I have a few snap-on tools already and i'm very impressed.

I dunno how, but i have horrible luck with craftsman stuff. We're talking breaking 10mm 1/2" drive stockets tightening a brake line bracket and returning 3 broken 3/8" ratchets at a time. It has a warrenty but i just have horrible luck with their stuff. Luckily we have backups for pretty much everything at the shop so it never hampers progress but it's just annoying.

yea use them for all interenal engine work. (head bolts, Rod bolts, Girdle bolts. ect.) The specs you have should be fine for your crx.

Probably just bad luck. I'm very hard on my tools and I've only broken 1 3/8 rachet and it was real old. On the other hand I have never broken a SK or snap-on tool. The stuff is just way too expensive though unless you can write it off because of your profession. I spent $380- on a set of 8 SK wrenches

i should mention that i've only broken like 2 tools on my crx. Most of the stuff i've broke was working on dodges/dsm's that were full of rust.

i prefer snap-on torque wrenches to any out there, just on the simple fact that they hold a good tolerace. the down side is that they are expensive to get calerbrated. i have a ton of snap on stuff as well as cornwell and craftsman, bang for the buck you cant beat craftsman, i have broken almost every snap on tool i own, and some of the cornwell, but less of the craftsman. yea they are not as cool as snap on or mac but for the average "backyard" mechanic they are just fine!
my 2 cents
