Turning over, as in the starter is not engaging.
Did you ever find out were that other connector went.

the starter is engaging, but its not starting itself. like as if the engine isnt getting any spark from the plugs. we took out one of the spark plug wires and stuck a screw driver in it, and held it to one of the nuts to see if there is spark. but there isnt. and we know the dizzy is good cause it started my old engine.

i think i may have found the trouble. the grounds on the thermostat. but there is two wires and the bolt heads have a red and blue color on them.??????? so i dont know whether to just make shift two wires and connect them to the ground or what?!
Click For original image
as you can see there is no ground wires coming out of my harness.
Click For original image
and i also attached a pic of my dizzy, the two white wires are exposed. but not touching.
Click For original image
i'm just more concerned with the thermostat grounds, is the two bolts the grounds? or is only one of them? and if so which one?!
edit: sorry for the fuzzy pics

You will find the wires right in that area of harness, just open the loom and find the cut wire and soilder it back together

Tim either one of them bolts will work. Just do like atistang said and peel back the harness and find out where the wires were cut.

Guys, I think your missing something here.
The ground you are looking at on his engine has been cut because he bought that engine from a engine reseller (or some other dude). It looks like they cut the wire rather then unbolting it.
His harness seems to be the stock harness from his car. So he's not going to find a "cut" ground wire in his harness. True, he may need to ground his harness but before we suggest he open his harness up and start grounding wires we need to explain to him the "holy shit" importance of grounding the correct one. If he ground something other than what's supposed to be grounded he's gonna be in a world of shit!!
Please be careful when suggesting opening harnesses and grounding arbitrary wires, what seems like simple wiring probing to you or I maybe more difficult to someone who is unfamiliar with what to do.
I wanted update because I don't have enough facts on what the heck is going on. Right now all I can figure is he has no spark, but I want more info.
Tim please post the following so we can attempt to help you out. Even if you have mentioned this in the past, let's get it in this thread.
- Year, model, trim level of your ride (dx, SI)
- The engine that came out was original??
- Wiring configuration that was in the car (OBD0, OBDI, OBDII)?
- What engine is in now?
- What ECU you are running now?
- What have you done so far with the wiring? (ECU adapter, VTEC harness, etc)?
Let's start there, like I said some of us know what you bought but let's get it all straight right now

I never said start grounding random wires. I do see what you are saying about that being cut off the old harness. What bugs me is the fact that the ground that goes there isn't there, that makes me think that maybe the grounds got tucked back in the loom when they were swaping engines. The car was orginaly an SI with an A6 and he said he never messed with the harness so there is still a gound that should be in that area of harness that is sopose to go there.

If its the stock harness, it should have the wires with the ground already on it.
I just thought he was using the harness that came with the motor. (seeing that it is missing and its on the motor)

Yes, his harness should have the ground lead on it. I just don't know exactly where on the harness we are looking. We need to get a photo zoomed out a little. Plus....he needs to clean that bitch a little, get some brake cleaner and some rags in there .
Also, all those loose wires up near the distributor look a little scary!!
