What did I do on memorial day
Karen and her family went shopping and I really just wanted to hang out local today. So I'm really bored so here are 3 of my highlights today
1) I electrocuted myself Yeah, that's right!! If you have ever been blasted by your cars coil you know it hurts like hell. Well, imagine what it feels like get slammed by a MSD Blaster coil running through a MSD Digital SCI + ignition!! Well now you don't have to.... I have pictures!! I was leaning over the engine while it was running. My right hand was on the Neuspeed shock tower brace, and I was fishing my left hand down to to the throttle body to blip the throttle (it's way down low on a JRSC car). I must have got myself to close to the coil lead, and I'm still not sure how it arced through the insulation. I'm assuming because I grounded myself really well across the tie bar. Anyway, I felt about 10 shots through my left thumb where it meets my hand. The pulse went up my arm, across my shoulder blades and out my right hand back to the brace. It threw me off balance and I took about three steps back and sat myself down on the ground (rather than falling). I sat for about 45 seconds and tried to get the tingling out of my left hand. It didn't feel good......

2) Was able to chirp 4th gear
3)Met this cool cat at Sussex County Speed and chrome. His old man owns the joint and I pulled in to check the place out. Guy ended up being a huge CRX enthusiast, although he's working on a Nissan 240 right now. Took him for a quick blast in RIO. I see he signed up today on TJ but I don't think he posted yet.

The ironic part about this is every time he seems to do something major to himself, I'm usually not around. When he dropped the engine on his hands (during one of the many times it was in/out of Rio - probably bout 11 years ago) I happened to be in the shower and I came into the kitchen to find him white as a ghost with his hands in a bloody pot of ice water. And today, while he was busy electrocuting himself , I was shopping at Woodbury Commons for bathing suits for our vacation. I think the only thing I have been around (and up close) for was when he shot a nail through his finger with a nail gun during our hardwood floor installation last year.

I don't think I'm accident prone. Of the 3 examples Karen gave you.....
Dropping my engine on my hands was about 11 years ago.
The nail through my finger, was a freak accident that happened after a 3 week long hardwood floor installation (about 600sq/ft).
This last incident, I still can't figure out how it actually happened.

What I cant figure out is how you drop an engine on your hand s
I'd assume you'd have to use a hand to let it down, and once you let it down you promptly place both hands under the engine?
And how on earth did you get out of that one.
Sounds like Rio was pissed at you for something
Give her a wash.

Actually in all honestly, he is THE most careful person I know when it comes to all these projects. He always plans and takes precaution to make sure he doesn't hurt himself. So for the 500 different things he does do, I guess there's bound to be some freak accidents like 2% of the time (which I guess is why I'm never around for them).
The engine dropping was more his friend's fault. John was in the engine bay, guiding it, while his friend was lowering and he didn't spot the chain properly.
And of course I should mention that after all these freak accidents, he always goes back to working on whatever it was, like not even an hour later whether he has bandaged fingers or not

Maybe the MSD just stored up enough energy to shock the hell out of you even if it's not on/running and waits for that perfect moment of unexpected times

haha nice story john.
on labor day, i worked from 7 am to 7.30pm at jiffy lube. we did a total of 14 cars, 3 of which were emissions, and for aperiod of 4 hours, nobody came but we couldnt close shop, so my fucking dickhead boss made use clean the shop top to bottom. he had me scrubbing up oil stains that were sunk into the ground. i mopped the entire bay 4 times, and one particular spot about 6. he kept saying its not clean enough, get that spot up. on the last time he said it, i turned round and said, "Shane, ive mopped that corner 4 fucking times alreaddy, im not mopping it again. the fucking stain is stuck therte so if you want it out so badly, srub it yourself!" so he shut up but now he tells everyone i talk back to him when all the other employees and the other manageer scoot think im doing a good job. today while i was working, the manager went out and bought me a big fucking bottle of gatorade. that was like mana from heaven considering it was about 95 degrees outside with no AC.
on a side side side note, i am nearly hlaf way to having enough money for my h22 swap. in anohter 2 paychecks, i WILL be ordering it, as well as my type S pistons and cams which ill get on the paycheck after that. so by the end of july, ill have the swap done, and all the internal work done too.

im probably gonna tune it myself. with something like cams and pistons, it wont alter the motor in the same way as a turbo or ITBS etc. i thin kif i use a VAFC i could get it done fairly well. either that orr get the type S ECU.
