NSX brakes on crx
Hey guys well im a newbie to this forum and this is my first post
Jadkar recommended me to this forum on nsxprime. Well i need some help i recently bought some nsx calipers front and rear which i heard is basically the same brakes as the ITR just lighter and they say nsx on them. Well i wanted to do a brake swap for my crx hf and i need some help from you guys. I think im going to need to change my knuckles to EX ones and i heard they are pretty hard to find. Any one selling these? also other than that im going to need to get some rotors so do you think i should go to a junkyard and get some of prelude/intergra/etc or just get some from fastbrakes. now about the rear i am told i need the T/A off an intergra, some si brake lines, an ebrake cable (i dont know what car to get this out of). Also the 4040 prop valve and a new mc and brake booster. The calipers are coming with the bracket and other forums its either i grind this bracket or get a wheel spacer correct me if im wrong. What are some problems i will come across? Am i just thinking out of this world and wasting my time and im not that experienced with DIY's so you guys think id be able to do this?
thanks a lot guys

welcome to TJ.
I believe I saw couple of 93 below integra's with NSX brake upgrades.
So I assume you'll need integra's assembly. hit the fastbrakes and see how much it'll be for them, and go to junkyard to get different pricing
Good luck~

ozrednsx - Welcome!! I'm glad to see a fellow NSXPRIME member here
As far as your NSX brake conversion, I'm gonna do some research and see what I can come up with on my own. Also, you may hear back on this forum from other CRXers, Njn63 & 88 Rex come to mind. Both of these guys are super knowledgeable, I know this swap has been done. Also I would definitely call Fast-Brakes, I bought my entire brake setup from them and he's very friendly and knowledgeable (If I remember his name is Brian).

there was a guy that lived south of dszyton that had it done. he had itr front hubs and spindles and had the mounting point on the spindle machined down for the calipers, i dont know how much he had them shaved, but if you search for the swap you will probally find his car somewhere.
oh yea welcome to tj

i've seen this swap before. i think it just looks cool. if your car is just for the streets id recommend the 90-93 integra swap or get the fastbrakes bracket.
then go with 11' brembo blanks, hawks hps pads, and some ss lines. this is plenty. also you could upgrade your master cylinder.

Which generation nsx calipers did you get? I assume the earlier ones?
The integra knuckles are a little bigger (i want to say 3/4") than the Civic EX ones and will effect geometry. The Civic ones are the ones you want.
Integra rotors are 10.2" i believe. I'm almost 100% sure there is no 4x100 rotor in 11" besides the G60 Corrodo rotor which has the wrong offset (fastbrakes uses this one i think but they use brackets). Redrilled Prelude rotors are probably the best bet for that.
I havn't looked up the info on brake swaps in a while and kinda forgot it. One thing to deffinatly think about is what wheels you're going to need. Some 15" wheels will fit.

Nick, all NSX calipers are the same. 1997+ had better brakes but it wasn't because of the calipers, the rotors were larger. So it doesn't matter what year NSX binders you get
and yes.... I have VW G60s (11.0") on my car but I'm using the fastbrake brackets with teggy calipers. WinFreak & AppexingHonda may also bea ble to speak on this.

Just so you know, the S2K cluster is very difficult to swap, and still can not function 100%. Please try and stay on topic.

I have seen it online before. I'll have to track down where I saw it.
Welcome to the board.
Also, they are different then Type R calipes and they have much more in common with the old TL/Vigor (forget off the top of my head) calipers. Type R are single piston, NSX is dual piston, and the Vigor/TL is dual piston but with bigger pistons.
EDIT: I meant to say Legend calipers not Vigor

I called up a junkyard and located some civic ex knuckles for 150 which almost as much as the calipers im getting...hopefully i dont break $600 on this swap

1) Yes
2) I'm not sure if they will know what you are talking about. Depends where you get them
3) Yes, different lug pattern.

nsx brakes
Alright i got my nsx calipers today and i checked the bracket and it says 28T for the front pair.
So from winfreaks write up if i get the ef8 hubs my nsx calipers should be able to bolt up in the front?
whats the difference from doing ef8 hubs and civic ex knuckles?
Arent ITR calipers different from nsx/legend brakes? 1 piston vs 2 piston
So there is no requirement of shaving off part of the caliper bracket if i do the ef8 or ex knuckle swap?
would i be able to get nsx rotors and just redrill those instead of getting prelude ones?
as of now since i can get some ex knuckles im going to do the front for now. Ill take some pictures of the nsx calipers for you guys

I don't what is different about the EE8/EF8 knuckles. Did he use any washers, or grind down bracket at all? Seems pretty straight forward from his pictures. I know some people have to either grind off 2mm or add a washer or two, but that might be dependent on which rotors you use. I guess with prelude rotors you don't need the spacers.
Yes, the calipers are different. BUT I believe that they have identical bolt patterns so there is no issues there.
Also, I don't know about NSX rotors. I know someone has used them before, but I forget what he had to change to use them. Maybe a spacer. Why not just use prelude rotors? Autozone blanks don't cost too much.
