2 Parts: Adjusting my cluth & am I missing something?

1st part:

How do I adjust my clutch so that it engauges when the pedal is closer to the ground?

2nd part:

In the picture it shows a clutch switch located in fron of the clutch pedal arm almost right above you foot. When the clutch pedal comes up it pushes a plactic rod into the switch, when you push the clutch peddal down the rod comes out. In my HF there is one in front of it as shown, but there is also another one. This one sit a little farther up.

This one operates the opposite form the one below it. (ie When the clutch pedal comes up a black plastic rod comes out of the switch, and when the clutch pedal is pushed down the plastic rod is pushed in).

edit:

When looking on the DX (the one I'm trying to adjust the clutch in), it doesn't have the lower one. The top one is used for starting the car, but I have no idea what the lower one is for, and why the DX doesn't have it.

editx2:

Wow that picture is small... I'll try and find a bigger one.

clutch adjustment: There is a nylon nut on the tranny where the cable attaches. You can thread it so there is more slack (engagement further out) or threat it so there is less slack/tighter which will be engagment further in. I might have those 2 backwards but you'll figure it out. There is also a tab on some of them that you have to press down to spin the nut.

The adjuster hides behind the lower rad hose and the battery tray. Turn it to the left to get it to loosen up, aka more pedal travel needed to disengage the clutch. I have mine pretty tight to the right right now, and should probably loosen it just a tad. Remember to work in 1/2 turn incriments only, so you don't get lost as to where you are.

I'm wanting it to engauge closer to the floor though. As it is right now it doesn't engauge untill right before I take my foot of the clutch. That's no exaggeration either.

Then you want to turn it to the right about 3 turns and take it around the block and see how you like it and maybe tighten it a little more.

First off, How much free play is there in the pedal. When you push down on the pedal there should be about 3/4 inch off travel before the clutch starts to disengage. (It's easier to feel for free play with you hand than your foot). If it is real tight and there is not much free play then you need to loosen the cable to get more slack (counterclockwise). If there is too much free play (more than an inch) than you need to tighten the cable (clockwise). If this problem is starting on an old clutch, it sounds to me like the clutch is wearing out. Good Luck!

There is almost no free play from where the clutch engauges and disengauges at. I'll look to get an exact measurement, but I barely have to push the clutch pedal down.

My problem is that it engauges way up high. In this car I actually have to slide the seat all the way back so my knee isn't near my ear when the clutch engauges.

Have you tried loosening your cable yet? This is the only adjustment that could help your problem. Just remember, if you loosen it too much, your clutch will not disengage fully. You can also reach down under the cable adjuster at the front of the tranny, and try to pull up on the clutch lever. It should pull up a little before you feel resistance. If there is full resistance right away, it's a dead give-away that your cable is too tight. If there is some play already, your clutch is probably shot. That's what happens when they go bad. The clutch engages further and further from the floor, because the plate is thinning out. Eventually slipping more and more.
