SI Sunroof in an HF

I have a 91 CRX HF and an 89 SI. I was thinking about removing the whole sunroof and headliner out of the SI and installing it into the HF. I figured now is a good time to do this because, I'm going to paint it soon. Has anyone done this? By the way the SI Has been hit in about every panel, the frame is bent, and has been raped for parts, so just using the SI is not an option. I do metal fabrication for a living, but I want to make sure it will work before cutting a hole in my roof. I did search here and on the "other forum" and the only answers anyone ever gave was "Just buy a JDM glass top". I don't want to do that.

It would be a lot of work doing the wiring for the sunroof. You have to wire up everything for the motor to the dash. I say if you can do the cutting and welding, then go for it. I'm just warning you that the wiring will probably suck.

there is a lot of stuff you're going to need to do i think. I'd think you're looking at replacing the entire roof skin basically along with running the drain tubes to the back. Um.. deffinatly isn't going to be easy.

Why do you think the entire roof skin would need to be replaced? I think all the motor bolt holes are actually there under the HF headliner. Also I don't think the wiring would be that difficult. What do you think would be difficult about it? I've completely rewired car windows so this should be fairly easy, unless there is something I may be missing. I think the biggest thing may be the drain holes like nin63 said. Plus welding in the lip around the sunroof without warping the roof.

how true, you will need the si head liner, all the wiring. you might as well just cut from the lower a pillars , all the way back ( on the si) and do the same with the hf, just make sure you have all you need removed before you attempt it

Well, I have all the stuff, but if I am going to need to cut the whole roof off from the pillars, it sounds like too much of a pain in the a**. I guess an aftermarket Sunroof Is the next best option. I'll have to look into that.
