My Rex Vs. 98' Integra LS
I raced my cousin this morning. He has a 98' LS Integra (in great shape)with a standard tranny, a stock B18B1, and a K&N filter. Stock everything except for filter.
I have a 90' Crx with:
-D16y7 block
-Z6 vtec head
-Apex'i Vafc
-ground wires
-header, no cat.,performance exhaust
-CAI, K&N filter, bypass valve
-(OBD0)-PS9 ECU, TB, Intake, injectors, fuel rail, and dizzy
-MSD external coil, Crane cams fireball cap and rotor, Accell wires
-Auto tranny
-16x7 wheels
-Naturally aspirated
We have raced several times in the past to track my tuning progress.
Well, today he beat me again. But I took him on take off by 1/2 car length, we stayed side by side 3/4 through the strip then he pulled 1 CRX length ahead of me and stayed there. To put it in perspective, last time he beat me by 3 full car lengths and we took off together this was prior to the Vafc and tuning. I am almost there...that will be a mark for me!

Yup. 5 spd swap will do wonders.
My '89 si: SOHC ZC, not VTEC yet. SRI, DCSports header, custom 2.25 exhaust, no cat. Suspension and 16" wheels.
I raced my friends '94 GSR, and I'm side by side with him until the end of third. GSR top end owns. I also raced my friends '92 Lude (JDM H22A), and it's the same as the GSR, he pulls at the end of third.
I think if you get an si trans. you'll beat that LS for sure.

Thanks for the support!
I am going to get a FPR, fuel rail, TB spacer, performance cam and adjustable cam gear. We will see what happens then?
This is getting addictive.

No offense taken, but you are missing the point of my post. I have a 16 yr old car with a SOHC D16, auto tranny and 16" wheels up against an 8 yr old car with a DOHC B18, standard tranny and 14" wheels.
I am purposely comparing apples and oranges to show that my apple is about to beat his orange.
But, you are absolutely right. If I want to kick his a$$, I need to go extreme!
I am just working with what I've got and posting up for what it's worth.

The car is off to a good start, but that auto trans. is like a ball and chain on your ankle.

I agree. But for now the tranny is practical. My job is to drive all over the countryside to see patients at thier homes. I am always having to look at directions or talk on my phone while driving. The auto keeps me hands free. Also, I would need some serious help if I were do an auto-to-standard swap. I don't race it, I just want to go fast and have a fun hobby.
Thanks for the posts guys.

In all honesty,
The auto to manual swap is a freaking breeze man. If you can do SLIGHT modding on your own.. you got the interior work/clutch cable done. the rest is pretty much unbolt rebolt.
With a tool gopher i can have a manual in a crx from auto in under a day.. with no airtools, and no lift. and seriously.. the auto weighs like.. 75#+ more than the manual.
but you guys.. should seriously.. grab ahold of a '01 lude automatic tranny.. talk about your ball buster, that thing HAS to weigh 200+ pounds.. no joke, it weighs almost as much as the freaking h22a4
