How Do You Get the Alternator Out
I'm trying to take my alternator out of the engine bay but there isn't enough room. It gets caught up by the master cylinder and the intake manifold. Does one of these need to come out in order to get the alt. out? Help me out guys!
Zach

Jack the front of the car up and take off the left front wheel. You also might need to pull the plastic inner fender out of the way as well

if youre taking it out of a civic, there is only one way in and one way out. and that was mentioned above by taking it out the bottom. but if you dont angle it PERFECTLY, it wont come out.

Take it out through the wheel well. You do not have to remove the wheel just turn it all the way to the right. You will have to remove the lower alternator bracket. It is a tight fit but it will come out. Be sure and unhook the neg. battery terminal. I've done it 3 times. Good luck.

When you guys say out the bottom, you do mean the driverside wheel well, right? I've tried directly out the bottom and the driveshaft got in the way.

thats how i can get it out, you can mess with it and get it out around the drive shaft, but the fenderwell seems to be just as easy

yep, another person who has taken it out through the bottom. The manual actually says to pull the hub and move the CV joint but i didn't. Just manuver it around and you will find an angle it comes out at.

All you gotta do to change the belt is to loosen the adjuster bolt, right.

Alright, I got it out. It came out through the bottom. I took the bracket and the wheel off and manuevered it out of there. I got it tested and it passed. So, now I'm stuck again.
I've been having a battery drain problem. The first step I tried was use a test light between the neg cable and neg terminal. I pulled all the fuses and there was no change in the light. I couldn't find the drain that way. I tried the alt next. as you know - no help there either. What else can I do? The battery is new. I suspect it has something to do with the aftermarket stereo/cd changer. That's the only thing that isn't stock in the car. I bought the car this way, so I don't know about the stereo wiring.
Any help would be great.

Any amps, or anything? Amps have a remote-on lead which lets the head unit turn the amps on. If the remote-on is hooked up improperly then either:
A. You'll get no power to the amps
B. Your amps will be on all the time.
Perhaps the CD changer has a remote on, and it sits there spinning all the time when the car's off.

No amps. But the thing about the changer is, when i jump the battery, the first noise i hear, as soon as I get power is the cd changer coming to life. it sounds like it cycles through the disk slots to see if anything is loaded.
