Ugh... Okay why do you think this? Did you take off the head and look? Basically all JDM motors are in great shape, unless you bought it off of someone who already had it swapped. You need a shop and lots of tools that I KNOW you can not afford to rebuild a motor, so give up on that. Pay someone to do it right.
Seriously though dude, get ONE plan, make sure you're READY for it, then STICK TO IT. We can all help you better if you do that.

The Best bet is to get a Helms manual!!! This will be the biggest help. Other than that, be sure that you really do need to rebuild the motor. Diagnose the problem first! Do a leakdown test or at least a compression test. On another note, as far as tools go, all you really need is a general mechanics tool set, a cherry picker, and an engine stand would be nice. Then just have a machine shop do any machining that may be needed. Any special tools you don't have can ussually be rented free at autozone. This is all assuming you are mechanically inclined. If you have never rebuilt an engine before, let someone else do it, or have someone help you.
To better help you, some more info would be nice. Are you planning to do a simple rebuild or are you wanting to get some more performance out of it? What makes you think it needs rebuilding? Etc.

Why do you think you need to rebuild it?
If you have to then I wouldn't even bother with it. I would go buy a used z6 or y8 and throw that in. Or even cheaper, an a6.

well i got ripped off....basically had a mechanic take a look at it...too it apart...the pistons are literally siezed. just got off the phone with nagano japanese in quebec, man did i bitch them out, but thats 800$ down the drain. i got an estimate of how much it'll be to rebuid the engine, and its around 2500$. so i'm saying screw it.

Moral of the story: Do your research before you buy. Also, if it's cheap, it's for a reason.
