A cool way to dress up your rear strut tower bar
Unlike DC2's we don't have nice little popout pieces in our civics for the rear strut tower bar, and taking a knife to the plastic side panels, like I did, left a not-too-appealing jagged hole.
So I dressed it up...I used a couple of shift boots I had lying around. there is actually velcro on the back edge too...to hold it in place and allow access if I ever have to take the bar off.

...and yes I know I still have the blue wrapper on the bar; I like to leave it shiny even though I'm never back there

Looks pretty good. I'd like to hear some other inventive ideas on this subject. (Sarcasm not intended, I think this is a cool idea.)

Thanks guys. One other thing I had considered was taking some ~1" heater hose, slitting it longitudinally and sliding the new "c-shaped border trim" around the hole I made to access the strut tower. Does that make sense? Slide the hose onto the edge of the plastic...
This wouldn't cover the hole up but it would border it nicely (or nicer). I got this idea from my CAI install on my old accord. I used left over heater hose to line the hole in the chassis that the intake pipe passes through to keep it from banging/chafing/scraping on the body metal.

if you took a dremel or something similar and made the hole pretty smooth and round, you could do the method you are saying with the slit hose. That would look nice. It is the same concept with that plastic stuff you put around wires to protect them. Try and get both holes the same shape and similar size. It will prolly look pretty professional! Good Idea!

mine is carpeted.......so this doesn't apply to me, but nice work either way. but what if you had adjuatable dampening struts.....how'd you get past the boot? thats why i just cut a hole big enought to get to the adjustment

The boot is velcro'ed to the plastic bolster...you just peel it back and there's a big gaping hole there ready for adjustin'

It's not too often someone comes up with a unique idea for something like this, that DOESN'T look gay or ricey. Like stated, props on the creativity.
