I just recently picked up this Vtec - E head for next to nothing . I heard that they suck and i wouldnt get any hp gains by throwing it on a 94 non vtec 1.5 any comments? Would it be an easy bolt on?
I wanna know if its worth my effort or i should just throw this thing on ebay.
Is that a D17 head? Or is it one of the 8 valve D15B motors?
I want to say there is a reason why the vtec-e heads aren't worth using but I can't remember why offhand. It's been a while since I did research on the sohc heads so I need a refresher.
I dont know much about it but if it will shed some more light I took another pic
It looks like it has 16 valves. Does this mean it has to be a D17? and if it is do they really suck? I thought any vtec would be better than none at allvalvess.JPG
I really dont think that you should swap heads. VTEC-E is designed to do the opposite of making power. Sell it and pick up a new cam/valvetrain for your current motor imo, or just pocket the cash.
search around but if i remember correctly i the e stands for economy. i think it runs on 8 valves till vtec hits then it runs on the full 16 so im gonna say sell it and pick up a real vtec head then do the mini me if you soo choose to. its vtec but its not really vtec if that makes sense.
