Tranny problem with 91 civic lx

i am workin on a 91 civic lx with the throtle body injected motor, (EDIT: AUTO TRANS) and when we put it in reverse nothing happens, its like neutral, no grinding, no clunking, just nothing, what can cause that? the tranny fluid is pretty nasty, we were working on changing that when i got the new pan gasket. i dont have a code for it

another question, would the tranny still run right if i changed out that fluid? or is it just gona slip really bad?

thanks

if you take out the tranny fluid, it will basically melt because of the heat made by friction. its just like oil but for the tranny.

as for nothing in reverse.....its hard to say. does it feel like it goes into gear? is there any noise whatsoever that you can hear?

Same exact thing happened to me in my old civic. Went tray sliding one night, next morning no reverse. Only thing to fix it was grab up a JDM D15B auto tranny and throw her in there.
