blwon motor pictures

so i picked up a coupe shell(eg)... i started taking the motor apart to see what happened for shits and giggles and i found this.

i took out the fuel filter, injectors, fuel rail and it all looked pretty clean... im worried that someone put sugar in the gas tank or soemthing... i already have another motor to drop in but i dont want it to be ruined if the gas system is bad..

or could it just be junk from over heating.. cuz all the plastics on the sides were melted... any help would be appreciated... ive never seen a motor look like this before

my guess is that the motor was blown, then attempted to be repaired, and just left exposed to rust.

Ew that's nasty...
My guess (since it does look corroded and rusted) is maybe coolant got in. That can be nasty stuff - corroding and rusting as it goes.
But if the head was hand-tightened that does suggest that someone was messing with it before giving up and selling it. Time for a swap
