p28 question
wow...so this is what the inside of the civic section looks like *takes a good look at his surrounding*...lol ive never ben in here.
aaaaanywayyyyy...i just got a p28 from phearable for my h22 prelude and i figured id ask you guys. are the ecu pinouts for the p13's and p28's the same? i believe all honda obd1 ecus are the same i just wanna make sure because i have a ground that is disconnected from the p13 ecu because when it was hooked up, all hell broke loose because the ecu was bad. i just dont wanna fry anything, i have the p13 pinout infront of me as i type this, so all i need is a quick answer and then the mods can delete if they so wish.
thanks guys.

I have no idea, but i read somewhere you lose 2nd butterfly control with the P28?
I don't mean to spread false information, i just read that somewhere recently.

yes they are the same. most honda obd1 are the same except for 94-97 accord where they switch 2 pins around.
yes you do lose the secondaries too because the p28 cannot control them.

nope, john told me that he doeent. it doesent matter anyway. the difference is SOOOOO minimal, its really no big deal. my arent working anyway, the vacuum box under the manifold has a broken sensor and that sensor is a dealer only part which is almost $100 my itself. so i see it as me saving 100 bucks.

was your p28 just chipped or chipped/socketed? I emailed him before he did my p28 and he said he socketed them and just looking mine over it doesn't seem like that chip is coming out.
Ugh, i've had soo many problems with my obd1 conversion in the past week, i'm debating doing it anymore.

ah, i'm just too scared to pull on it i guess. I'll take it back apart and look at it again later. I was hoping it was socketed though because that was one of the main reasons i did it.
edit: Thanks. Just pulled it out. Now i just have 5 other problems that i hope are rectified as easily.

a pick is a good investment for getting them out. I dont even run chips anymore. I just leave the ostrich hooked up and all times.
another good thing to get is the zif socket. Its got a lever that releases and secures the chip in place. However, i had problems with mine coming loose so i just took it out.

yeah, i'm used to seeing zif sockets i guess because i was looking at the chip when i first got it and didn't understand how it came out.
I'm probably going to get a ostrich when i start actually doing tuning. I needed my p28 auto -> manual converted and figured since phearable did it for free i just had them do it. It wasn't worth me trying to do the soldering work and hoping it worked... plus i got my p28 for $50 at a junkyard so i have $125 in a manual/socketed/chipped one. Not that bad.
