i ran into a lil bit of a burp, turns out the amp rack system that i had planned on doing, isnt gonna work.
i was gonna do the amp rack in the drawing on the first page, the middle left one, but now i have to do something different. if you go back to page 1, in the drawings that i did, it'll be looking like the drawing thats on the bottom right of the page.

the amps are too big for the area to do the previous idea. soooo it'll look really nice and clean.

here tim. taken from Lorin's build in the middle east. yeah he's sponsored by a prince now. somewhere around jeddah......this is the guy that built that tokyo drift fd's for veilside. worked with drift xtreme back in the 01 days.....helped me with my widebody that many years ago...........this is from a private ZT thread. so most ppl cant see it.....be priveledged.

Once your done with that get some of this. I like the super 77 its easy to use and some renalds wrap the nonstick kind. Spray the glue on the stick side and then lay it out where your going to glass. The foil is for the glass to build on. The tape is something to stick the super 77 to with out fucking up your interior.

Yeah so I laied up another 3 coats of mat and one coat of cloth Im about 3/8th of a inch thick. Was boring so I didnt take pics of that. So here is the left box streched and ready for more glass and finnish. Im going to athens tomorrow so heres all you get

update:

this week end got some really good progress done. i spent all damn day on this amp rack and trying to trim it and get it flush and bla bla bla bla bla. it was a pain in the ass to do, seems like its taking forever though. anyways..took some pics and its looking not too shabby so far! hehe

amp rack is still not done yet. still have to do another rack for the other amp.

UPDATE:

here's exactly what the amps are gonna be situated! hehe

this was just the rough install of them i still have to glue down the boards and nail them too.

oh ya here's a concept of what i am wanting to do with the rack. the black will be black carpet. the fleece will be stretch to where the edging of the black is, but the whole bottom of the board will be black carpet as well too!
the grey area will be the beauty panel wrapped in black suede.
i hope this will work out for me. lol.

i mocked up what i had to make it look, what its gonna be like, inside the car.

u can see i routered the edges on the amp rack there.

came to decision that i might be running my amps with out the cover on.
here's the amp uncovered.

i think i can make a pretty deadly light show with some fans to keep it cool too. what you think????

i started fleecing the amp rack...i layed two coats of resin on the fleece....i started on the other kick pod too!
i have alot of work ahead of me today.....if i ever get it started...ugh lol

stretched the fleece over the amp rack, layed two layers of resin down, then started glassing it with chop mat. i get done and i stand back and look at my work and i'm not really happy with it.

cause A: the angles in the fleece in the back of the amp rack are un-even. and
B:there's fucking air pockets that i can NOT get rid of. i had tried a roller and brush, both at the same time. and it wont stay i dunno why. see for yourself.

yesterday i started on the other side for the kick pod. well that was easy to do! lol i layed 3 layers of mat down then cut it to shape.
then i drilled 2 holes so i can integrate my hood release in with the pod. after i'm done writing this post i'll continue with the pod and fab up the MDF rings for the speaker.

i dunno what to do with the amp rack though...scrap it??? or keep going. opinions????
and any tips on getting that air pocket out of there...

EDIT: actually come to think of it. i might still keep going on it...i know it'll look different once its in the car and no one really will notice the difference either.
AND, i know now what to do with the air pockets, sand them down and put some filler in there to smooth it out.
also learned something new..
fiberglass does NOT like 90 degree angles. let that be a lesson to you too! hehe
