wiring harness help
i posted this on nasioc, heres what i wrote..
I was getting ready to install my headunit today, and I bought the wiring harness that fits subys and so I unplugged the harness, and was going to plug the new one into my headunit, but it doesnt fit.
Thats the only thing that I have. I dont have anything going to my headunit. Am I supposed to have something else or am I just screwed?

what a coincidence i just did a full system in a suby for my 2pm appointment. You should be working with 2 harnesses. 1 that goes to the head unit with bare wires off from it. The other plugs into the factory harness and has bare wires off from it. Connect the bare wires together from the deck and the harness that plugs into the factory harness. I dont really know what harness you have or what headunit. All headunit harnesses are different Apline Pioneer Sony JVC etc. all use different harnesses that pluginto the head unit. I cant really see your pic well eiether.

no the harness fits fine, its the cd player itself that doesnt fit. i tried putting the plastic part back on,
that, and the middle part doesnt fit over my headunit.
not my picture btw

you might need a dash kit for it. Or if you used the factory brackets they might be in the wrong holes on the side of the deck.

i used a dash kit. and i used the factory brackets but i used the only holes that would fit with it. it went in fine but it seemed to be jutting out just a little too much. maybe later today if i feel like going through all this again so i can see what the problem is, ill try to put it back in.

buy a universal pocket (Metra part # 88-00-9000). then use the factory brackets to iso mount the radio and the pocket. that will solve all of your fitment issues

step 1 - put pocket together
step 2 - remove factory mounting brackets from factory radio
step 3 - screw brackets to pocket and radio. the radio will go on top of the pocket.
step 4 - plug in wires and install in dash.
thats all you need to do
