so i threw out my sub box and tore up my trunk :(....

and made a new setup!!

still gotta fine tune it. i need a lot of padding and rattle adjustment since the subs now point up and rattle the trunk a lot more. either way, i got a lot of extra space, and my car is lighter. i used plywood for the floor and just used the old carpet from on top of the old floor panel to cover it. the whole thing is secured down on all sides by bolts.

looks better.

does having the subs hanging on that floor board make it lose some of the punch they would have in a box?

the bass is more if anything, but more rattling beccause of the position of the subs. hopefully porting the floor will take that away by allowing the air out, and about the tire, idk if theres a rule about them, but ill gladly stand and watch the cop undo the bolts and check for it

I'll keep that in mind just incase it really happends, and i'll be sure to laught my ass off very fucking hard just for you!

anyways, as Retro said, moving the subs into the floor or having a box is all in "saving space" and to kill some time.

now, if you were to make a actual fiberglass enclosure out of your spare tire area, then there would be a big difference in sound and I can gurantee you that.

oh marc, have fun trying not to demage your subs now that you have more space to put stuff in your trunk.

did you build a box around the subs? or are they using the spare tire well as the box?

right now its the spare tire space. but ass hoyoung suggested, im gonan fiberglass the space and then screw the moulded part to the plywood to make a box. then ill port it. that way it will sound a hell of a lot better.

dynamat or brown bread is also your friend. put that in your trunk, little strips here and there. and i would STILL go with a sealed encloser. your not gonna be able to hear your music. plus it'll take up more box space (which you have limited to) so if you go with a sealed box. you'll have more trunk space. and less weight in the back of the trunk.
