SCCA Car Classifications for Solo
I'm hunting around trying to figure out where I would be if I start competing. I may have screwed myself by modifying my car without the SCCA class rules in mind...something tells me I can't compete in the Stock Class anymore ...
Anyway here are the SCCA rules
Post up any knowledge or experience you may have prepping your car or deciding what class to compete in.
I'm also wondering if I'll be in way over my head with other cars similarly modified...probably.
[edit] looks like I'd be in Street Modified

yeah i saw a show where they bought a brand new miata, they can do the work on it so you can race is SCCA right at the dealer. They put special bolts on the tranny and many other places. As well as but chips in there so there electronics can read them. It was really cool.

Are you talking about that special edition miata that comes built to one of the SCCA class specs? i saw one of those in SCC a while back. Cool idea, but i'd rather save the money and do the mods myself.
One thing I like about the SCCA's stock rules is they allow a roll cage...it shows they care about safety, but you can get some good structural rigidity from a cage. I don't think I'll be putting one in anytime soon though. I might do the B-pillar brace, to mount a harness too and add some support (even though it's not supposed to )

Everybody I talked to at the race said "hey, it's just you and the clock out there, just work to beat your time" when I mentioned that I F'ed myself with the classification.
It's true - it's just you out there....
