as long as it's FIA approved it should be fine...i prefer an open face helmet but i dont know what ur track laws are like.....they might require you to have a full face helmet...auto x isnt very dangerous tho...so ur head should be aite with whatever ya choose
my old man has both kinds....e.g of what we have

full faces for the win seriously......
even in minor accidents.....do u have any idea how much dental/maxillo facial surgery costs?
put it this way. there's a reason why i just bought an extra pair of hunter dunks an ORC clutch + flywheel and a cusco RS 1.5 mech diff all brand new deadstock.
frontal protection distributes the load of the force to the rest of the helmet
u'll be better for it later. consider it good insurance. and try em all out. make sure it fits.....FIA approval is a good thing. it means that they have sent plenty of their examples for testing and the authorities consider it 'safe'.

deffinatly deffinatly pay attention to weight. My dad has a Simpson that is rediculously heavy and i hate when i borrow that. He bought one for my mom that is way lighter.. i think it's this one: http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/produc...d=40103&mmyId=
You can get a decent full face for $150 off of dennis kirk.

shouldn't be. My dad wears glasses and just puts them on after he puts the helmet on. I have perfect eyesight (or so i claim haha) so i don't have to worry about it.

for most autox clubs, the minimum mandatory helmet is snell 95 certified, or rather, snell m 2000 certified, since the 95 helmets are pretty much expired.
check with your local autox club, some of them are making open face helmets mandatory now. which leaves me shit outta luck, because i just bought a closed face snell m 2000 certified helmet, to be up to date.
fucking bastards...

Did you get one?
My concern with the full face is visibility but I have seen some with good peripheral views...I'll have to look around

something like this would be good. a lot of race schools use bell helmets, and they're not too expensive for a starter helmet. in auto-x, most people don't hit very high speeds, so helmets are good for keeping your head from bonking around off things. if you plan on racing on a road course or there's a track day somewhere, you might be interested in looking into a better one.

Excellent points. $260 for that Bell though I guess it is my head. Maybe I can pursuade my Dad to give me his 2nd motorcycle helmet so he can upgrade his collection.
