fine some headers from a D series motor and pair um up, bet you they will be exactly the same size
So it looks like your headers need to be modified....ouch...

no....the pipe is 2.5", it's the damn flange they put on it. When I look at photos of my old header you can see the flange is much bigger. The "ears" that stick off the side oare wider. You can actually see in my photo that's the big problem, the holes don't line up.
My question is can a shop cut that flang off without ruining the header pipe??
This could be a huge disaster, remember I need this by Thursday

Where's the lead donut? You are suppose to have a lead donut on that type of flange.

well before i spend money on having someone cut and weld (it can be done), i would just drill the holes closer together and try to bolt it together like that. whats the worst that could happen? it leaks, and in either case youd have to have it cut and re-flanged anyway.

JohnLude - I was thinking the same thing. Drill the holes on the Omni pipe closer together. That should work, It's just I will have to gind the holes more elongated because they are already there.
88 Rex - the donut is there, just not in the photos. The problem isn' t the donut, it's the holes on the flange not lining up.

Mine doesn't line exactly either, but the spring loaded bolts don't need to be exact. I don't recall how far mine was but I know it was a pretty funny angle. Also, the donut pushed the pipes a little further apart which helps aleviate some of that angle. The pipes aren't just sitting on top of each other when the donut is it in there unlike in your pic.
Johnlude's idea should help too.

I think they could, the collector extends pretty far from the flange itself..so if they get rid of the flange they have a couple more points on the collector so put it before its toast....if they can even remove the flange without messing up the header..
only other thing i can thnk of would be to cut some open ends on the side of the flange where the bolt holes are...and just ghetto bolt it with some washers and shit...

Problem fixed.....
I ended up just elongating the holes on the Omni test pipe. I did this after going to an exhaust shop today and having the guy look at me like a deer standing in traffic. I'll tell ya.... I'm so glad I did all the work to this CRX myself because for ever competent mechanic I find I meet another 20 retarded ones. This guy looked at me like he's never seen a spring clamp before....he was completely lost. "You know it's not gonna seat correctly with the end being beveled like this". I was like...."aaaahhhh, OK, have a nice day..goodbye!"
Anyway, the strange thing is everything lines up OK now and it even fits better than when I had my JDM 4:1 header. Nobody is gonna remember this but back when I first started the car in January I had a problem with my mid-pipe. I was running it upside down because it was hitting my short shifter. The problem with it being upside down is the front flange was bottoming out all over the place. Well now with the Kamikaze header I was able to flip the mid-pipe the right way, so now the exhaust is tucked nice and tight against the car.
