How come we don't see more...
99-00 Si and Del Sol VTEC cars with LS/B20-VTEC setups? They are perfect for it. You've already got the B16 head and all, it would be so much less of a headache versus piecing together a motor.

How much power would that set up put down? What's the stock weight for a del sol?

IMO it's wrong do modify a EM1. They are already quick cars straight from the factory and they are most valued when they are left alone. Pick a everyday car and use that as a platform for mods and transformation.

the same can be said of most any other car, it's rare for mods to increase the book value.

Isn't the crank hp of a CRVtec only 170hp? When you start with 160 you're better off spending your money on the B16 then backing up a step just to get 2.0L, and decreasing longevity in the process.
I would imagine you get more bang for your buck by directly modding the B16. If you had a large budget and lofty power goals it might make sense but even then your money is better spent in the other platforms available.

bragging rights, they're not very common. it's more the bump in torque though, because it's more down low where you'll notice it in every day driving. modding a B16 will also decrease its longevity in the process too.

Also, peak hp isn't everything. The powerband of a crvtec will make a b16 look stupid.

OKOk OK, been there done that, traded the LS/VTEC for a jdm b16 with gsr cams, yeah im slower now but im not smoking anymore, my car idles like its supposed to, i can go for a full oil change and still have my 4 1/2 quarts. So what if im a full second and a half slower in the 1/4. yeah those motors are fast as shit but there were so many little problems with mine, i had to rid myself of the burden, i didnt have the finances to keep up with it. oh, and mine was a mildly built one, not even pushed to the limits as far as the parts go. I had GSR cams, Si pistons, port/polished head, new bearings, balanced crank, and on my stock EM1 ecu i still pulled 162WHP. after i got my chipped OBD-1 ECU it was way nastier, that along with my stage 2 clutch would rip through 1st and 2nd and wheelhop 3rd....i loved it when it ran right.

haha, well, a b16 makes anywhere from 82-90whp at 5k rpm and 5000 is where peak torque is at on a d16a6 also. I have faith that my car would be above that figure, i think it'd be around 80 whp stock at 5000 rpm.
