It's a sexy car. But it's also a bit expensive for some young drivers. Not to mention the insurane on it for a young driver is through the roof. When I went to get an rsx they wanted 4k+ a year and i was 23 at the time. I'm now 25 so my insurance risk went down but havent priced one yet.
Btw the closest thing ive seen to a young driver in a tl is my cuz who put the tl rims on his rsx-s
Yes they do fit.

She left out the most important thing...although a keen eye (and true Honda nut knows). It's a 6SPD!!! If your up on your Acura knowledge you'll see that her TL is wearing Brembos up front, only the 6spds have the Italian binders and there's the nav....totally awesome ride, I'm jealous
....and yes the car is real quick!!

I'm 26 and the TL still doesn't appeal to me - it's just bland. I'd sooner get a TSX.
And to keep with the thread I've never seen anyone under 35 in one either

We test drove a TSX too much money for not enough car....IMO. The TL blows it's door off and feels so much more luxurious.

Yeah and I was under the impression that Honda was still doing the whole equal length half shafts, no torque steer, yada yada, but to hear you (is it Karen?) say it torque steers like mad is discouraging
Oh well. I think the RL is pimp, but style-wise the TL is in no-man's land. If I ever consider the TSX I'll test drive the TL but if I make money like I want to I should be able to skip right to the RL

equal length half does not eliminate tq steer but the tq steer is less intrusive and some what reduce it. you can never eliminate tq steer on fwd car since the turning wheels are the drive wheels.

Yes, it's Karen. It does torque steer like crazy but like anything, you get used to it eventually. The other strange thing that people can't get used to is the clutch has kind of a "sponge-y" feel to it. It's hard to tell where it grabs sometimes. Since it's my daily driver, I'm really the only one that can drive it somewhat smoothly - even when John drives it, he's a bit rough with it since getting the hang of it takes some getting used to. In fact, for sport I often watch the people in car washes and valet parking try to drive the car back - they almost always stall it... then totally ride the clutch in order to drive it the 10-20ft where they need to get it. Kinda painful.
At any rate, when I was in the market for a new car, I originally really wanted a BMW 330. I was totally against the TL and he was totally for it. The body lines, at least to me, are a bit sexier than the TSX's and they remind me of a 5 series. I felt that when we test drove the TSX, I had to "work it" in terms of revs to get it moving. The TL seemed to get where I wanted to go alot quicker and smoother (despite getting used to the clutch). The options on the TL (for the price) far outweighed the BMW so that's what I ended up with. (It's hard to find a car that bases the automatic climate control on the GPS positioning of the sun - LOL - one of those silly li'l features only your friends would appreciate )
We also test drove the RL. That car is SUPER sweet (and not that much bigger size-wise than the TL). The fact that it will read you the Zagat review to your favorite restaurant is reason enough to spend the additional $13K on the car! heehee

All good points...I definitely believe the value advantage over BMW.
I've driven those types of clutches before...actually I learned stick on a Mercedes C180 in Europe...it was butter soft but man is it hard to feel the engine on a tranny like that. Sounds like they put that clutch in to make it more of a luxury car...that would explain the low end torque you talked about too.
...
Well I'm more into the TL now than I was when I first saw this thread

I like the new TL, but I wouldn't want to own one. I have this thing with 4 doors, I just can't get down with it. The only tolerable ones IMO is the EVO and IS300. If I wanted a luxury Honda, I'd go with the older 3.2 CL Type S.
Oh and no I have never seen anyone under 35 in a TL before.

I find hearing your opinions (and Scott's too) very interesting because I'm trying to figure out why it's not appealing to a younger crowd, at least right off the bat. Even myself, I now LOVE the car, but I didn't even want to look at it when I was first considering a new vehicle. It really does bother me that whenever I look at a fellow new gen TL driver they're OLD looking. I don't think I'm THAT old!! (not yet anyway )
And as far as 4 doors are concerned, I think anything that does 0-60 in under 6 seconds is definitely worth at least a closer look, regardless of the doors (hello, give me M5). Then again, if they made a TC Odyssey, I probably wouldn't be into that even if it did it in under 5
