Update on my accord

As of saturday, my srs light came on. I've done my srs reset on sunday and it didn't clear it. Today i went to the dealer and the diagnosis is a faulty srs module, which would run me about 700dollars to replace. Damn it. Since I wear my safebelt, I am thinking of just replacing my steering wheel with a Momo or a Sparco unit, which is helluva lot cheaper than replacing my srs module. I am searching on the net and can't seem to locate a steering wheel hub for a Momo/Sparco steering wheel for the 95 Accord. Anyone here with a 1995 Accord EX/LX w/ Cruise Cont, thats using a aftermarket steering wheel any input on how to find the hub that will retain the horn function is greatly appreciate it. Once I find the hub and I purchase my wheel, I will do a write up on steering wheel removal and replacment. Thank you in advance

replacing the factory wheel with one that doesent have an airbag isnt going to make the srs light go away.

I know. I am worried that my bag will explode though, though the chances of that happening is highly unlikely. Because i don't want to spend 700+dollars to replace my SRS module, I am spending that money on a aftermarket steering wheel and hub. I have my white faced gauges waiting for me to install and when i install that I am blocking off the srs light, since a red light glaring at me is highly annoying. I figure since I am a safe driver and a avid safe belt wearer, I should be fine. Heres the million dollar question, removing the driver side bag is that going to negate my passenger side bag?

Thank you for the suggestion. I am a bit weary of buying from ebay when it comes to safety equipment. As of now my mind is made up on the aftermarket steering wheel route unless I can get a better deal on SRS module replacement.

you should be able to wire a resistor in place of the drivers airbag inflator unit to fool the control unit into thinking a good module is in place, so the SRS light doesn't come on.

honestly in my personal opinion the people unfortunate enough to have needed the airbag that i know have actually had it hurt them more than the car accident. One airbag went as far as put burn marks on my friends face from when it went off.

Idk i'm not sayign airbags are the devil but from my personal experiences they do more harm than good.

Yah my sister had burns on her neck from her air bag. However, I think I would vote for having those burns rather than a cracked skull from smashing into the steering wheel. Wouldn't you? I mean, sure there have been instances were the air bag deployed when it wasn't totally necessary, but no I can't agree that they do MORE harm than good. They have been and still are put in millions of cars for some reason or another.

you'll just have to install a 2ohm resister in between the connector leads for the drivers airbag (the honda test tool that plugs into the harness is 2ohm and keeps the light off ); as long as the light's out the passengers airbag will be active

as it so happens i have the SRS wiring diagram right here for you

all you have to do is wire the resistor between the two connections (make sure the car is off) and you are good to go. good luck and be sure to make a thread on it

as i am waiting to fidget with my steering wheel and in the process of ordering my steering wheel and steering hub. I have just order my TYC projectors and depo corners, Tokico HP struts(lowering springs have been waiting in the corner of my room for the past 10months) and doing research on my HID packages out there. Got tired of my black housed oems. will be posting pic from my shitty camera phone. updates coming soon. with the warmer weather coming, my will to modify my accord has returned.

within the next 6-12 months I will be doing a full supesnsion/brake build: ST sway bar kit, ingalls front camber kit, installing my Powerslot big rotor kit and goodridge ss braided lines. Also my unused t25 will be put to good use as I am really getting my turbo(full build and tuning) funds started(next year to 2 years). I will keep all you hungry bastards posted.

had to after seeing the pics of your baby. made me realize that my original intentions on my baby were getting washed away and now its clearer than ever. after the freak ball joint accident, left a bad taste in my mouth but nothing gargling couldn't cure but my vision of a mid 13sec fwd daily driver that can make jaws drop and give porsche's and vettes' a run for their money at the local road course is slowly becoming a reality

Exactly right soso.

Being a Firefighter, i have never seen anyone seriously injured due to an airbag. I have seen heads into windhsields, steering wheels, dash boards and roofs in vehicles w/o airbags.

My Accord also has a faulty SRS module. I was told that this doent gaurantee that the airbag will go off in an accident, but it may. I was also told that it will not randomly fire because of the faulty module.

This info may not be correct but that is what i was told. Please, for the sake of you, your family, and us, keep the airbag.

just me riding in my car. i and my passengers are avid safe belt wearers. the srs light is more annoying than concerning to me though. i was also assured that the bag wouldn't randomly pop out on too. i was in a rear end accident with my 1993 accord 3 years ago and my bag didn't pop though I rear ended the person at a considerable speed but I was wearing my belt(thank God). Steering wheels hurt though
